Dear Reader,

First and foremost, I greet you and your entire family in the blessed name of our Lord.  I hope this introductory letter finds you in good health under His care and may He the Almighty bless you abundantly in everything you do.

As for me, I'm not so bad even though I'm over-burdened with prison hardships.  Never the less, the Almighty is taking care of me and I'm doing fine spiritually.

Well, devoted in Him I'm very much aware that of course, you are probably wondering who I am and why I'm writing to you.  I'd like first to briefly introduce myself to you before I go any further.

My name is Lambert Musonda, aged 36, a father of five (5) children who are now at school, but unfortunately, they have stopped because I their father who was providing them school fees, clothing and food - I'm incarcerated.  Hence, they are in grave problems indeed.

I was arrested on 21st March 1994 and charged with aggravated robbery - a case I did not commit.  On 3rd of April 1996 I was sentenced to death by the court of law.  From there on 6th October 1998 the Supreme Court of Zambia dismissed my appeal against sentence and conviction.

I do not know whether if is good luck or bad luck to die for something I did not do?  My sincere prayer to you is that you may not be taken by surprise to receive a mail from a poor condemned prisoner from a Central African Country (Zambia) who attempts to write to you, His elect, of faith in Him by whom He has reconciled to Himself people of His own.

'When I was in prison you visited me.'
'When I was hungry you fed me.'
'When I was naked you clothed me.'
'Whatever you've done for the least of these
 you've done for Me.'

I am compelled to write to you because since I have been in prison the Lord has really been wonderful in dealing with me until now when I came across your particulars - thus  I got concerned and promptly decided to write to you as I'm being troubled with my heart as to where I could find a Christian pen-friend or friends to be encouraging and strengthening me through sharing some messages of faith and encouragement through letters, prayers and indeed where I can be hearing Good News from a far

country as it is written in (Proverbs 25:25).

Therefore, I write to you for the very purpose I've mentioned above..I make this my humble request to get in touch with me, befriend me and give me backing for my spiritual growth through sending me literatures such as magazines, books, tapes, for speaking His word and worshipping.

I only find comfort through reading and listening to His word.  I am lonely in prison as a condemned prisoner and all my old friends have deserted me- even my family can not visit me due to financial constraints, hence I am in a grave problem indeed.

For those of us who don't have relatives to help us or bring us food, clothings etc., we are in problem because the authorities do not provide all these basic needs.

My children are suffering too much because they have lost me, their father, who used to provide them everything, foods, clothings, etc.  Please pray for them and that I stand firm and overcome temptations and hardships, I'm passing through.

Finally, before being put in prison, I was one of the souls who was in darkness but when I came into prison I heard a call to salvation and then believed in His name and accepted Him as my personal Saviour.

My sincere prayer too is that He bless you abundantly in all your daily works and continue to provide the way for you in all whatever you do including your family and indeed all His people with you there (2Cor. 13:14).  I'm compassionately looking forward to hearing from you soon.

I wish you all the best. Yours sincerely in Jesus,

Lambert Musonda.
